Insecurity in Kogi State - Government Promises Major Revelation Within 24 Hours

The Kogi State Government has announced that it will make a significant revelation within the next twenty-four hours, a disclosure described as one that will “shake the country.”

This statement was made by Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.

Fanwo emphasized that Governor Usman Ododo’s administration has been working tirelessly to address the rising insecurity in the state and that the forthcoming revelation will highlight the government’s efforts in tackling criminal activities.

Kogi State has recently witnessed a series of violent incidents, particularly attacks on churches. In Ejigba, Yaba West Local Government Area, gunmen stormed a Cherubim and Seraphim Church during service, kidnapping the pastor and his wife. 

Similarly, worshippers at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area were attacked, leading to abductions and the death of one individual.

These events have heightened concerns about the safety of residents and the ability of security agencies to contain the situation.

Fanwo explained that the state’s geographical position, sharing boundaries with ten states including the Federal Capital Territory, has made it vulnerable to criminal infiltration.

Intensified security operations in neighboring states such as Niger and Kwara have reportedly pushed criminal elements into Kogi.

Despite these challenges, the commissioner insisted that the Ododo administration has implemented a robust security framework that has prevented the state from descending into chaos. He claimed that for every incident that occurred, about thirty others were successfully averted due to proactive measures.

The government has assured residents that security agencies, including the army, police, and the Department of State Services, are actively pursuing suspects in forested areas.

Fanwo stressed that Kogi State will not serve as a safe haven for criminal activity and that the administration is determined to secure the release of abducted individuals. He further noted that the government’s priority is to ensure no resident is lost to insecurity, regardless of the scale of attacks.

This announcement of a forthcoming revelation has generated anticipation across the country, as many await details of what the government intends to disclose. 

The promise suggests that the administration may unveil new intelligence, strategies, or breakthroughs in its fight against insecurity.

Given the recent spate of attacks, the revelation is expected to provide clarity on the government’s approach and possibly reassure citizens of its commitment to restoring peace and stability in Kogi State.
