Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Nigeria posted the information via his Instagram handle a few days ago in the aftermath of the #EndSARS protest in the state.

According to recent post on the Gov N E Wike Information twitter handle, the Rivers State government has decided to pay N20 Million compensation to the families of each of the soldiers and policemen killed by members of the proscribed indigenous Peoples Organization of Biafra (IPOB) in Oyigbo last week.

“We consider this reappointment by President Buhari as an impetus to demonstrate a readiness for a free fair and credible election, which Mr. President had always promised to bequeath at the end of his second and final term in office in 2023.
“In the light of this five-year extension, our party hopes that the failures, disappointments and miscarriages that characterised the first five years tenure of Yakubu will have no place in the new order.
“It is therefore instructive to state that with his re-appointment, Prof Yakubu has been given an ample time and opportunity to redeem himself, the image of the commission and preparation for credible, free and fair elections in our country.
“At least, with this reappointment, whatever happens in our future elections cannot be ascribed to inexperience and lack of adequate preparedness on the side of INEC.
In the report, Okonjo-Iweala defeated her only challenger Yoo Myung-hee from South Korea by a wide margin. She polled 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat the South Korea’s Trade Minister.
The body is expected to announce her as the new DG by 3pm Nigerian time.
Meanwhile, Okonjo-Iweala who was Nigeria’s Finance Minister during the tenures of former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, has been Nigeria’s nominee for the highly competitive position of the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala’s victory as WTO DG makes her the first African and first female Director-General of the international body in her 25-years.
If you didn’t know, The World Trade Organization (WTO) is an intergovernmental organization that is concerned with the regulation of international trade between nations and it is currently headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland
That indeed was a very proactive measure. Imagine the level of destruction and losses that would have visited the state if His Excellency had not done the needful and the right time. The Governor stated further in his tweet "For accountability, when we started distribution months ago, I ensured to set up a high powered committee that included myself, my deputy, the State PDP Chairman and Chairmen of all political parties in the state, including traditional rulers, and others.
Like a drop in an ocean as we take a case study with the wanton destruction @tvcnewsng headquarters last week, media reports have it that about 44 vehicles including employees' vehicles were burnt by hoodlums as they hijacked the rather peaceful #EndSARS protest.
Allegedly, four of the broadcast vans were set ablaze and to say the dish on each of the vans alone cost about $175,000 you just can't but imagine the cost of the vans and the constituent electronic news gathering apparatus.
