Construction of Collector Road CN2 from Arterial N16 Including ILS 5 within Katampe District
The
construction of Collector Road CN2, officially named Emmanuel I. Ogala Street,
marks a significant infrastructural development within the Katampe District of
Abuja, Nigeria.
This project, flagged off by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity, boosting economic activity, and improving urban living standards across the Federal Capital City.
Collector Road CN2 is designed to link Arterial Road N16, also known as Yemi Osinbajo Way, to Arterial Road N20, named Wole Soyinka Way. The project also includes the construction of Road ILS 5, further expanding the road network within Katampe.
The strategic placement of these roads is expected to facilitate smoother
traffic flow, open up underdeveloped areas such as Gishiri, and increase
accessibility to key districts.
During the flag-off ceremony, Minister Wike emphasized the economic potential of the road project, noting that it would significantly raise property values in the surrounding areas. He projected that real estate prices could surge from ₦200–₦300 million to as high as ₦700 million or even ₦1 billion within a short period following the road’s completion.
This anticipated boom is attributed to
improved infrastructure and the confidence it instills in investors and
residents alike.
The
construction is being executed by China Geo-Engineering Corporation (CGC),
which was commended by the Minister for proceeding with the project even before
the formal contract award. This proactive approach reflects the company’s trust
in the administration and its commitment to the development goals of the FCT.
The road
project is part of a larger suite of infrastructure initiatives launched
between September and October 2025, which includes the commissioning of
completed roads and the initiation of twelve new ones.
These
efforts are complemented by the “Light-Up Abuja” solar lighting initiative,
aimed at improving safety and aesthetics across major districts, including Katampe.
In
summary, the construction of Collector Road CN2 and ILS 5 within Katampe is a
transformative project that not only enhances mobility but also serves as a
catalyst for economic growth and urban renewal in Abuja. It reflects the FCT
administration’s commitment to strategic development and its vision for a more
connected and prosperous capital city.
