TVC NEWS: LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO CARRY LICENSED AUTOMATIC WEAPONS – ORTOM

Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has asked the Federal Government to allow Law-abiding citizens carry licensed automatic weapons for self-defense.

He made this suggestion when he delivered a lecture at the Press Week of the Abuja chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.

Benue Governor joined the event virtually to deliver his lecture, also urged the federal Government to immediately implement the National Livestock Transformation Plan, in line with the recommendation of the National Economic Council.

TVC NEWS: OBASEKI LIED ON ALLEGED N60 BILLION PRINTED IN MARCH – FG

The Federal Government has denied it printed N60bn to augument March allocation to States as alleged by Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki.

It described the allegation by Obaseki as untrue and sad.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, told State House correspondents: “The issue that was raised by the Edo State Governor for me is very, very sad. Because it is not a fact.

TVC NEWS: INCREASING FOOD PRICES PUSH NIGERIA’S INFLATION TO 18.17%

Food prices have again pushed Nigeria’s inflation to 18.17% in March 2021. Nigeria’s inflation had risen 15.75% 16.47%, 17.33%, in December, January and February respectively.

The National Bureau of Statistics said in its report released Thursday that food inflation rose by 22.95% in March compared to the 21.29% recorded in February and the 20.57% witnessed in January.

High food prices had driven Nigeria’s inflation to 17.33% in February 2021 amidst monetary intervention. Inflation has now risen in the last 19th consecutive month due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki has replied the Minister of Finance, Budget, and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, after denying that the Federal Government printed N60 billion in March to support allocation to states.

Obaseki in a series of tweets on Thursday said he believes it is statutory to offer useful advice for the benefit of the nation and called on the Federal Government to end ‘monetary rascality.’

Obaseki said, “While we do not want to join issues with the Federal Ministry of Finance, we believe it is our duty to offer useful advice for the benefit of our country.

CHANNELS TELEVISION: TEAM DELTA WIN 20TH NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL

Team Delta have emerged as the winners of the 2020 National Sports Festival which held in Edo State.

The 20th edition of the festival kicked off on April 2 and ended on April 14.

On the other hand, Team Edo came second with 129 gold, 104 silver, and 108 bronze while Team Bayelsa finished a third with 56 gold, 55 silver, and 58 bronze.

Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has blamed unpatriotic Nigerians for being the reason why social networking service, Twitter, decided to make Ghana its African headquarters.

Mohammed stated this in an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.

Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, had revealed on Monday that it had finally set up an office in Africa and it would be in Ghana.
