...Reaffirms commitment to bridging development gaps between rural communities and urban centres

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned the newly completed 13-kilometre stretch of the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Kwali on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, President Tinubu disclosed that the project, completed in under 12 months, marks a major milestone in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda to bridge the development gap between Abuja's urban centers and its rural communities.

President Tinubu, who was represented at the event by the Senate President, Obong Godswill Akpabio, emphasized that his administration’s commitment to ensuring that national wealth reaches all citizens, regardless of their geographical location.

"Abuja cannot be a city of two worlds, with gleaming districts and forgotten settlements. This road rejects that divide. It connects Gomani, Dafa, and Yangoji to markets, schools, hospitals, and opportunities. It says clearly that the wealth of this nation belongs to all of us”, President Tinubu stated.

He observed that rural communities within the FCT were held back by poor infrastructure, causing agricultural produce to rot before reaching the markets, and assured that the newly constructed corridor will transform the Kwali Area Council into a primary food-producing hub for the FCT and neighboring states.

He added that the road complete with advanced drainage systems and comprehensive streetlighting is expected to significantly drop post-harvest losses and urged the traditional rulers and youth of the host communities to guard the infrastructure against vandalism and encroachment.

President Tinubu commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for meticulously enforcing the presidential directive to match city development with rural growth, praising his vision, cZAZAZAlose supervision, and ability to keep contractors focused on results.

While also praising the Minister of State Dr Mariya Mahmoud and the entire FCTA for working as a team to ensure the timely completion of the road, President Tinubu reassured that the current administration was committed to ensuring that ongoing infrastructure projects across the country are completed to ensure that public expenditure adds value to the lives of the people.

“Let me say this plainly: the era of starting projects only to abandon them is over. We will fund, we will finish, and we will maintain. From city expressways to rural access roads, every naira of public money must show up as value for the citizen. Infrastructure is the floor on which every other ambition stands. We will keep laying it, district by district, council by council”, President Tinubu said.

Speaking earlier, the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, revealed that the contract for the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji Road in Kwali was awarded in November 2025 and completed ahead of its 12-month timeline.

He explained that the project was a result of community-led development, where the Council Chairman and traditional rulers directly nominated a 43km road network required in the area to address security challenges and improve the lives of the people.

The Minister further stated that the project was the fourth in a series of rural infrastructure projects commissioned to mark the administration's third anniversary, and thanked President Tinubu for his consistent presence at the commissioning ceremonies.

The FCT Minister also commended the contractor, Zeberced Limited, for delivering the project within nine months, matching the high standards previously set during their construction of the initial stages of the road from the Federal Highway A2 to Pai community in Kwali.

"What it shows is that all these things we are doing is not rocket science. It is a demonstration of commitment by this administration and the contractors", The Minister said.

The Head of Service of the FCTA, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, while delivering the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his visionary leadership and thanked the National Assembly for its vital legislative oversight. She also acknowledged the patience and cooperation of the residents of Gomani and neighboring communities during the construction phase.

According to Dare, the government’s achievements have strengthened its political standing, making Obi’s influence less significant than in 2023.

Criticism of Peter Obi

Dare went further to criticize Obi’s public engagements, describing his responses in interviews as “pedantic” and sometimes incoherent. He suggested that Obi should be seen less as a “nightmare” and more as a “nuisance,” arguing that his commentary often lacks clarity and directness.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has officially commissioned the newly rehabilitated and expanded road network from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, including other adjoining roads in Karu, Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC.  

Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, June 29, 2026, the President described the 15km road project with solar-powered street lights as another monumental stride in the administration’s drive to modernize the Federal Capital Territory and deliver Renewed Hope where citizens live, work, and commute. 

President Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shetima, said the intervention directly tackles years of congestion on the Karu corridor, a critical gateway between the FCT and neighboring states. 

“For years, the Karu corridor suffered from severe traffic congestion that drained the productivity and energy of residents. By expanding and rehabilitating these roads, we are not just laying asphalt; we are injecting life back into the local economy,” the President stated. 

He noted that the project “dramatically cuts down daily travel times, eliminates frustrating gridlocks, and ensures that businesses in this densely populated area can thrive under the right conditions”.

The President highlighted the speed of infrastructure delivery in the district, pointing to the previous week’s commissioning of water supply to Karu and surrounding communities. He described it as a clear testament to the current administration’s promise to resolve urban congestion and uplift the living standards of the people.  

To secure the corridor and prioritize the safety of its users both day and night, the President pointed out that modern solar-powered streetlights have been installed along the entire network. “These streetlights are illuminating dark stretches, drastically reducing nighttime crime, and improving visibility for motorists,” President Tinubu said.

He commended the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, CON, for the pace and quality of delivery across the Territory.

Speaking earlier, the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, emphasized that the project aligns with the President's strict directive that every district in Abuja must feel the impact of the current administration.

Barr. Wike pointed out that the Mabushi commissioning is part of an intensive, consecutive 31-day timeline celebrating completed projects across the territory. He noted that just the day before, the President commissioned the Jahi-Gwarimpa interchange at Katampe, and announced that the administration will move to the Karu Satellite Town on Monday to commission another major road project.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially commissioned the strategic interchange at the Arterial Road N16 / Ring Road II intersection, seamlessly linking Jahi and Gwarimpa districts of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The milestone event took place on Thursday, June 25, 2026 and marks the 12th consecutive day of a historic 31-day project commissioning itinerary celebrating the third anniversary of the administration’s impactful governance.

Delivering the keynote address, President Tinubu, who was represented by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, described the newly completed interchange and its accompanying slip roads as a tangible manifestation of his administration's "Renewed Hope Agenda and part of the nationwide push to revitalize public infrastructure.

He noted that the project will improve freedom of movement, enhance security and return valuable time to residents of the FCT, adding that the severe gridlock that previously choked the Maitama, Gishiri, Jahi, and Gwarimpa axes resulting in lost man hours and delayed businesses is now a thing of the past.

“This intersection used to choke Abuja. Gridlock stretched from Maitama to Gishiri, from Jahi to Gwarimpa. Hours were lost. Fuel was wasted. Businesses were delayed. Today, that story ends. This interchange opens up critical districts of the Federal Capital City and connects them smoothly to the rest of the Territory. Goods will now move faster. Workers will get home earlier. Students will get to class on time. Security will improve because criminals thrive where traffic stands still” President Tinubu stated.

While congratulating the residents of Jahi, Gwarimpa, Katampe, and neighboring communities for their patience during the construction phase, the President reminded citizens that civic rights coexist with responsibilities, urging them to protect the new infrastructure and remain diligent in paying their taxes and levies to enable further developmental strides.

 He commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, CON, praising his indefatigable drive and execution of the directive to make Abuja work. He also lauded Barr. Wike’s ability to domesticate the Renewed Hope Agenda across both the city center and the satellite towns, a transformation visible to residents and critics alike.

 “Wike, you are delivering. You took my charge to “make Abuja work” and you are executing it well. From roads to bridges, from city centre to satellite towns, you are domesticating Renewed Hope across the FCT. Nigerians can see it. Critics can see it. Residents feel it in their daily lives. Well done”, President Tinubu stated.

President Tinubu also extended praise to the FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) team, and the project contractors, CBC Global Civil Construction Nig. Ltd., for delivering high-quality engineering on schedule while boosting the local economy through youth employment.

Speaking in his personal capacity, the Senate President countered critics who question the administration's heavy focus on roads, maintaining that good roads are indispensable prerequisites for accessing healthcare, education, and markets. He added that if past administrations had prioritized infrastructural development rather than relying on exclusive air travel, current resources would have been redirected elsewhere.

Senator Akpabiio commended President Tinubu’s macroeconomic reforms, stating that the diversification of Nigeria's revenue base has empowered state governors to execute projects and pay salaries without borrowing, while revealing that the National Assembly is actively working on constitutional reforms to move security to the concurrent list, enabling state police.

In his remarks, the FCT Minister Barrister Nyesom Wike, revealed that the Jahi-Gwarimpa project was awarded just two days before President Tinubu’s inauguration in May 2023 without any mobilization funds.
