The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has advised Nigerian youths to shun violence and embrace peace to ensure peaceful co-existence in the country, NAN reports.
Dovie Mena, Chairman PMAN FCT stakeholders
forum popularly known as Baba 2010, said this when he spoke with the News
Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Thursday.
“Nigerian youths must shun violence and see themselves as future leaders”, Mena, who is also an afro-highlife legendary musician, said.
“They should also use their talent to
launder the image of Nigeria which has been dented by the current security
challenge.
“Our youths should emulate celebrities like
Davido, Wizkid, Burna boy and others, who have been able to use the influence
of music to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria to the entire
world.’’
Submitting that the forum had resolved to
support the Federal Government’s fight against security challenges in the
country, Mena also pointed out that “The maiden PMAN FCT Stakeholders Forum/
Unity Concert and lecture was organised in Abuja to promote peace, using the
strong weapon of music for peaceful co-existence in the country.
“The overall objective of the forum is to
preach peace and unite entertainers in Abuja and Nigeria in general for
national unity and stability, using the strong weapon of music,’’ Mena said.
Advising the government to invest in the
musical industry, adding that Nigerian youths were endowed with great talent he
said “They needed to be supported by the government to help unlock their
potential towards the realisation of the Nigeria’s greatness.

Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria
is an organisation founded by Christy Essien-Igbokwe and Sunny Okosun in 1984
to guide, protect and promote the interests of musicians in the West African
nation of Nigeria.
