Lagos has since 1999 established a fine judicial tradition, for which we are known around the country.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State made the statement in a recent post via his IG.
“Our system is staffed by well-trained and highly motivated judges, and we have over the years pioneered such landmark judicial reforms as the introduction of Citizen Mediation Centers, new High Court rules, Infrastructure upgrades for our High Court premises, introduction of a robust welfare package, post-retirement care, amongst others.
“Today, we are building on that tradition of excellence, with the swearing-in of 14 new judges of the Lagos state High Court, which will increase our capacity to dispense justice, while also helping raise a new generation of talent who will go on to do exploits in the highest courts of the land.
“The standards of behaviour and practice expected of Judges are among the highest and most stringent in the land, and eyes will be on them to dispense justice speedily, yet fairly and impartially. They will also be expected to live and act above board in all circumstances.
“I therefore congratulate our 14 new High Court Judges, as they achieve this milestone in their lives. I also charge them to strive to rebuild the confidence of citizens in the systems and institutions of our Nation”, the message read further.
