The former Governor of Lagos State and the National Leader of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is currently meeting with Governors on the platform of the party under the aegis of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) as part of his consultation towards his 2023 presidential ambition.
The meeting which is holding at the Kebbi State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, is coming a few hours after his political associate and Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo, declared his intention to vie for the office of the president in the 2023 general election.
This disclosure is contained in a tweet post by the Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Goovernor, Gboyega Akosile, on his official Twitter account, on Monday, saying that 17 APC governors were in attendance at the meeting.

2023: Southern PDP aspirants clash with Southeast governors
The crisis over the zoning of the
presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for next year’s election
has pitched aspirants from Southeast with two governors from the region.
Four presidential aspirants from the Southeast have complained that Governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state and his Enugu state counterpart, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, are working against their aspirations.
The aggrieved aspirants are former Senate President Pius Anyim, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi; renown industrialis Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa; and United States-based medical doctor Nwachukwu Anakwenze.

Terrorists responsible for the bombing
of an Abuja-Kaduna bound train yesterday released a video in which over 30
victims were seen pleading with the federal government to meet the demands of
their abductors.
In a related development, the Kaduna State government yesterday said it was awaiting operational feedback from security agencies on a trending video showing soldiers ‘dragging’ suspected criminals into an open boot of a military pickup truck.
This comes exactly two weeks after the Abuja – Kaduna train was bombed by terrorists, an ugly incident that left eight persons dead, with several others injured and scores whisked away even as some family members of those abducted recently protested in Abuja, appealing for the federal government to intervene and help them rescue their relatives.

leading aspirant for the governorship ticket of the party in the state, Dr.
Dakuku Peterside, has declared that the party was in a renewed movement.
Peterside, weekend, at the party’s Special Thanksgiving Service held at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, said APC in Rivers State looks unstoppable in its goal of winning the presidential, governorship and all other elective positions in the state in 2023.
Peterside expressed happiness that APC in the state was on the right path of recovery and victory to end the alleged “sad breast-pocket governance style of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.”

DAILY POST gathered from locals in the aforementioned council that Kukawa, Gyanbahu, Dungur and Keram villages were the communities attacked, that suspected bandits have killed over 78 people, over 70 abducted and over 100 homes set ablaze, all in Kanam LGA of the state.
According to a resident of one of the affected villages, Bala Adam, the incident occurred around 3pm on Sunday, saying, “Gunmen came around 3pm and started shooting sporadically, it was unbelievable, as if it was a dream.

NDLEA Intercepts 101 Parcels of Cocaine in Children Duvets at Lagos Airport
No less than 101 parcels of cocaine
concealed in eight children duvets have been intercepted by operatives of the
National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Murtala Muhammed
International Airport, Lagos.
According to a statement yesterday by the spokesman of the anti-narcotics agency, Femi Babafemi, the illicit drug was brought into the country by a 52-year-old Brazilian returnee, Akudirinwa Uchenna.
He said Uchenna was arrested on Saturday at the D-Arrival Hall of the Lagos airport upon his return from Sao Paulo, Brazil via Doha aboard Qatar Airline flight, noting that the the 101 parcels of the class A drug with a gross weight of 13.2 kilogrammes were recovered from his only check-in bag.

Adama Barrow's party beaten in Gambia's parliamentary election
President Adama Barrow’s ruling National
People’s Party secured just 18 seats from 53 constituencies in The Gambia’s
parliamentary election Saturday, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) said.
The biggest opposition United Democratic Party followed with 15 seats, including in almost the entire capital area, the IEC said about the results of the balloting, which was marred by low voter turnout.
Candidates who contested under independent tickets won 12 seats.
The National Reconciliation Party won four seats; the People’s Democratic Organization for Independence and Socialism, two seats; and the former ruling Alliance for Patriotic, Reorientation and Construction, also two seats.
