Episode Theme: Two-Timing Amongst Student Couples
Setting: Federal University Campus
SCENE 1
EXT. FACULTY BUILDING – MORNING
Students
move from one lecture hall to another. AMA EBONY and her friend ADA walk
together after a class.
ADA:
Did you hear the latest gist?
AMA
EBONY:
(smiling)
Campus runs on two things: lectures and gist. Which one is this?
ADA:
Tosin and Vivian have broken up.
AMA
EBONY:
Really? They looked fine last week.
ADA:
Apparently, Tosin has been dating Vivian and another girl from the Department
of Economics at the same time.
AMA
EBONY:
(shakes head)
Two watches on one wrist and you still won't know the correct time.
ADA:
(laughing)
Only you can explain cheating with watches.
AMA
EBONY:
Because that's exactly what it is. Confusion disguised as enjoyment.
They
continue walking.

INT. STUDENT CAFETERIA – AFTERNOON
AMA EBONY
sits alone, eating lunch and reviewing notes. TOSIN approaches.
TOSIN:
Ama Ebony.
AMA
EBONY:
Tosin. Have a seat.
TOSIN
sits down.
TOSIN:
Everybody is talking about me.
AMA
EBONY:
People usually talk when actions become louder than explanations.
TOSIN:
I think they're judging me unfairly.
AMA
EBONY:
What happened?
TOSIN:
I was dating Vivian. Then I met Sandra. Things just happened.
AMA
EBONY:
Things don't "just happen." People make choices.
TOSIN:
I liked both of them.
AMA
EBONY:
Liking two people isn't the problem. Deceiving both of them is.
TOSIN:
I didn't want to hurt anyone.
AMA
EBONY:
Yet everyone got hurt.
TOSIN
becomes silent.
AMA EBONY
(CONT'D):
A person who fears honesty today will create pain tomorrow.
TOSIN:
It's not that simple.
AMA
EBONY:
Actually, it is. If one person isn't enough, tell the truth and let everyone
decide where they stand.
SCENE 3
EXT. CAMPUS GARDEN – EVENING
VIVIAN
sits on a bench looking upset. AMA EBONY approaches.
AMA
EBONY:
Mind if I sit?
VIVIAN:
Not at all.
AMA EBONY
sits beside her.
VIVIAN:
I feel foolish.
AMA
EBONY:
Why?
VIVIAN:
Everyone knew except me.
AMA
EBONY:
Being deceived is not foolishness. Choosing deceit is.
VIVIAN:
I keep asking what I did wrong.
AMA
EBONY:
Nothing.
VIVIAN:
Nothing?
AMA
EBONY:
Someone else's dishonesty is not evidence of your failure.
VIVIAN
looks relieved.
AMA EBONY
(CONT'D):
Don't let another person's bad character become your insecurity.
VIVIAN:
I needed to hear that.
SCENE 4
INT. DEPARTMENTAL COMMON ROOM – NEXT DAY
Students
gather in small groups discussing campus issues. SANDRA enters. The room
becomes quiet.

students whisper.
STUDENT
1:
That's the other girl.
STUDENT
2:
The one Tosin was hiding.
AMA EBONY
stands up.
AMA
EBONY:
Can we stop that?
The room
turns toward her.
STUDENT
1:
Stop what?
AMA
EBONY:
Acting as if deception requires only one participant.
STUDENT
2:
But she was dating him too.
AMA
EBONY:
Did she know about Vivian?
STUDENT
2:
No.
AMA
EBONY:
Then she was deceived too.
The room
becomes quiet.
AMA EBONY
(CONT'D):
We should learn to hold the right person accountable, not whoever is easiest to
blame.
SANDRA
nods appreciatively.
SCENE 5
EXT. CAMPUS QUADRANGLE – AFTERNOON
TOSIN
meets AMA EBONY under a tree.
TOSIN:
I spoke to both of them.
AMA
EBONY:
And?
TOSIN:
Neither wants anything to do with me.
AMA
EBONY:
Actions often submit applications before consequences arrive.
TOSIN:
I suppose I deserve that.
AMA
EBONY:
What matters now is whether you've learned something.
TOSIN:
I have.
AMA
EBONY:
Good.
TOSIN:
You know, your honesty can be scary.
AMA
EBONY:
(smiling)
Truth is
only scary to lies.
FINAL SCENE
EXT. CAMPUS WALKWAY – SUNSET
AMA EBONY
and ADA walk back toward their hostel.
ADA:
So what's the lesson from this week's drama?
AMA
EBONY:
Simple.
ADA:
I'm listening.
AMA
EBONY:
When one heart is promised to two people, somebody is living on borrowed trust.
ADA:
And borrowed trust always expires.
AMA
EBONY:
Exactly.
They both
laugh and walk away as the sun sets over the campus.
NARRATOR (V.O.)
"Love
is not measured by the number of people who desire you, but by the honesty you
offer the one who trusts you. In a campus full of distractions, Ama Ebony
reminds everyone that truth may be difficult, but deceit is always more
expensive."
