Major Highlights of President Buhari's Democracy Day Spoech

Commemorating the Democracy Day, Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Nigerians via a live media broadcast, using the opportunity to reflect on "our journey as a nation, our achievements and struggles", he said.

You would  recall that in 2018 Buhari declared "June 12" as Nigeri's "Democracy day", as a preference to "May 29", the anniversary of the innauguration of the Fourth Republic, marked as Nigeria's Democracy Day since year "2000".

The Okey Ezeala's Viral Post

Okey Ezeala, an Abia State politician gets the social media boiling with his shared Facebook post "RAPE IS EVIL, BUT IT NEVER HAPPENS TO A DECENT SOUL - every victim played a role".

The post has since been condemned by many across the world wide web.

This politician who contested a seat in Abia State House of assembly in the 2019 election on the the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is accused based on the Facebook post, of justifying rape and insinuating that victims of rape are indecent.

Five States Get Refund Of N148bn Spent On Federal Roads, Bridges

According to a report on Nigerian Tribune, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at a virtual meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday approved the refund of about N148,141,987,161.25 expended by five states to rehabilitate some federal roads and bridges.

This refund is in favour of Rivers (N78,953,067,518.29), Cross River (N18,394,737,608.85), Ondo (N7,822,147,577.08), Osun (N2,468,938,876.78) and Bayelsa (N38,040,564,783.40).

Rape Is Now A Pandemic In Our Country - Atiku

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar this Wednesday on his twitter handle submits "I just spoke to the family of the late Uwa Omozuwa.  I expressed my deepest condolences over her rape and murder. I feel their anguish. Sadly, rape is now a pandemic in our country".

He however added that it is time we reviewed the laws on rape to ensure that there are no escape routes in the investigation, prosecution, conviction and adequate punishment for this heinous crime.

Buhari Appoints A New Chief of Staff

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari.

Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, CFR, a Nigerian academic and diplomat is scheduled to resume work today wednessday. 

His appointment comes few weeks after the demise of Mallam Abba Kyari the former Chief of Staff to the President.
