Music Producer, Four Others Nabbed For Alleged Cybercrime in Uyo - EFC

Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday April 16, 2021, arrested one Imeh Henshaw Nyong, a music producer and four others for alleged internet fraud in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to the story published on the EFCC website, Nyong was arrested alongside Benjamin Ikpeme, Godwin Isong, Magnus Chimaobi and Victor Usun.

Nigerian varsity bans students from driving, riding on campus

Authorities of the Adeyemi College of Education in Ondo, have banned the students from driving cars and riding motorcycles on campus.

The Registrar of the college, Olufisayo Fakorede, in a circular dated April 15, said the ban was necessary to safeguard the lives of students and staff from students who drove recklessly.

Mrs Fakorede said the management had received several complaints from students and staff of the institution over the recklessness of some of the students which necessitated the ban.

“The college management has observed that students who own cars and power bikes drive their cars and ride their power bikes on campus with reckless abandon.

Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has asked the Federal Government to allow Law-abiding citizens carry licensed automatic weapons for self-defense.

He made this suggestion when he delivered a lecture at the Press Week of the Abuja chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.

Benue Governor joined the event virtually to deliver his lecture, also urged the federal Government to immediately implement the National Livestock Transformation Plan, in line with the recommendation of the National Economic Council.

A grieving daughter dropped her toy and the president gives it back

While Abigail Evans, 7, and her family mourned the loss of her father, U.S. Capitol Police Officer William Evans, she dropped a toy replica of the the Capitol. President Joe Biden, who was attending the solemn ceremony in the Capitol Rotunda, got up from his chair, walked over, picked up the toy and handed it to Abigail, USA Today, reports.

According to the story, Evans, an 18-year  member of the force who served on the agency's First Responders Unit, died during an attack at the Capitol earlier this month. His body is lying in honor in the Rotunda, an unusual distinction for a private citizen, the report states.

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS AND HEADS OF SECURITY AGENCIES

A communique has been issued by the South-East governors and heads of security agencies at the end of the first South-East Security Summit held yesterday in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Below are the resolved submissions on the communique as posted on the the official Facebook handle of His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State:

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS AND HEADS OF SECURITY AGENCIES AT THE END OF THE FIRST SOUTH EAST SECURITY SUMMIT HELD IN OWERRI ON SUNDAY APRIL 11th 2021

After exhaustive discussions on the current security challenges in the South East and with valuable contributions from participants at the first South East security summit in Owerri on this day Sunday April 11th 2021, it was resolved as follows:

1. To strongly and unequivocally condemn terrorism and banditry in any part of Nigeria, particularly in the South East. The meeting strongly condemns the burning of police stations, violent attacks on custodial centres with the unlawful release of inmates, and the  killings  including security personnel, natives/ farmers and headsmen.

2. That the five South East states are on the same page with the federal government on the issue of security challenges in the country. To  this end, the meeting makes it absolutely clear that the South east will  stand resolutely with the federal government  to fight terrorists and bandits to a finish

3. That  the political leadership in the South East has resolved to bring together all the arsenals at their command, as one united zone, to fight and flush out criminals and terrorist from the zone.

Social functions can now go on in Lagos subject to strict adherence to all COVID 19 safety protocols as directed by LSSC - Sanwo-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State dropped the message via his Fcabook handle announcing a partial ease of restrictions earlier instituted in the state to curtail the spread of the Covid-19 Virus.

According to the message, Social functions can now go on in Lagos subject to strict adherence to all COVID 19 safety protocols as directed by LSSC.

"Event centres must not exceed 50% of their total capacity and not exceed 500 people irrespective of their occupancy limit.
