The Anti-Corruption and Research Based Data Initiative (ARDI), on Saturday, said the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN)’s expression on open grazing was simply aimed at depicting freedom, rights and ownership and not indirectly targeted at any ethnic group, Nigerian Tribune reports.

A few days ago the Vanguard reported that “the Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, Rotimi Akeredolu, has lambasted the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr Abubakar Malami on his position that the ban on open grazing by southern governors was akin to banning all spare parts trading in the North. Akeredolu in a statement personally signed by him on behalf of the southern governors in Akure, Ondo State said “lt is most unfortunate that the AGF is unable to distill issues as expected of a Senior Advocate.He declared that ‘the ban open grazing was irreversible and will be enforced’.

LUX TERRA MARKS WORLD DIALOGUE DAY WITH A TOWN HALL MEETING

The Network and Advocacy Group of Lux Terra Leadership Foundation organised a Town Hall Meeting to celebrate the 2021 World Dialogue Day, known more fully as "World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development," with the theme: NATIONAL INTEGRATION AND THE IMPERATIVE OF DIALOGUE, on Friday May 21, 2021.

The Executive Director, Lux Terra Leadership Foundation, Fr George Ehusani, who was one of the panellists, said the importance of this for Nigerians cannot be overemphasized, as it provides an opportunity for citizens to deepen their understanding of the importance of dialogue as an ongoing engagement in a culturally, religiously and politically diverse society such as our own, and at such a crisis moment as we are presently going through.

He said there is the need to listen to each other, and to genuinely seek to understand each other’s feelings and perspectives; and where there are serious differences of opinion, to respect the right of the other person or group to express such opinions.

Nigerians Are Not Required To Submit IMEIs – NCC

Nigerians are not required to submit the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of their phones from July contrary to earlier media reports.

This is according to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) which debunked earlier reports suggesting that the masses would have to submit their IMEIs to the Federal Government.

According to NCC spokesperson Ikechukwu Adinde via a statement issued on Friday, the commission is in the process of deploying a Device Management System.

“At no time did the commission issue a statement regarding the registration of IMEI by subscribers and it has no plans to do so,” he said. “The reports in question have emanated from a section of the Revised National Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration recently launched by President Muhammadu Buhari and which has been uploaded on the commission’s website.

95-year-old West Virginia man is the oldest organ donor in US history – CORE

According to the Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE), Cecil Lockhart, a 95-year-old man from West Virginia just made history as the oldest organ donor in US history.

Cecil died on May 4. A woman in her 60s received the 95-year-old man's liver after his death, the Center for Organ Recovery & Education said in a news release.

"Anything he could do to help people he did”, said Bill Davis, Lockhart's son-in-law. “And this is just a way he's continuing to help people after his time on Earth is finished.

According to the United Network for Organ Sharing, the previous record for the nation’s oldest donor was 93 years old, CNN reported.

“CORE is incredibly proud to have been able to make this historic organ donation possible,” Susan Stuart, CORE President and CEO, submitted in the release. “This landmark in the field of transplantation is just another example of CORE’s pioneering legacy and commitment to innovation, which, over the last 40 years, has given 6,000 people in the United States the opportunity to save more than 15,000 others as organ donors.”

HOW TO BECOME AN ORGAN DONOR

While many people believe there is an age limit associated with being an organ donor, UNOS chief medical officer David Klassen said no one is too old or too young to donate.

"Every potential donor is evaluated on a case-by-case basis at the time of their death to determine which organs and tissue are suitable for donation," Klassen said. "Cecil's generous and historic gift is a perfect example of that."

As of February, more than 107,000 people are waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the U.S. and 17 people die each day waiting for a transplant, according to organdonor.gov.

One donor can save up to eight lives by donating a heart, two lungs, a liver, pancreas, two kidneys, and intestines.

Talk show host, writer, producer, actress and comedian, Ellen DeGeneres plans to end the “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” after its “Season 19” in 2022.

One of her reasons for the intended action according to media reports is “When you're a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged — and as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it's just not a challenge anymore”

But according to a BBC report, Ellen DeGeneres has told viewers she is ending her long-running TV show because "I truly have felt like next season was the right time" to bring it to a close.

"The truth is, I always trust my instincts. My instinct told me it's time," she said on her new episode.

In her pre-recorded opening monologue, she said: "I want you to know that I've thought a lot about this decision. I sat with it for a while. I meditated on it."

PDP, APC senators clash over calls for Buhari’s impeachment

SENATORS Biodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti) and Yusuf Yusuf (APC, Taraba), on Wednesday, disagreed over calls for the impeachment of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over his inability to deal with Nigeria’s worsening insecurity, reports Punch Newspapers.

The report establishes that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party senators had last week asked Buhari to rise up to the occasion or risk legislative action while their counterparts in the ruling All Progressives Congress dismissed such calls, insisting that the president was doing his best to tackle the situation.

“Impeachment is not yet on the table”, Senator Olujimi Abiodun (PDP, Ekiti South) said, urging her colleagues not to hesitate to opt for Buhari’s impeachment whenever the need arose, lamenting however, that the Buhari regime was not doing enough to tackle the scourge. “When it is on the table, we would all look at it squarely in the face because if we have a serious problem like what we have in Nigeria, we need to also think seriously about the solution.”

Today, at a stakeholders' meeting on security which included religious leaders, military chiefs, traditional and community leaders, students, unionists and members of the State Executive Council, we got the support of Lagosians to tackle all security challenges in the state.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State gave the message a few days ago via a post on his official social media handle.

“The issue of the unruly behaviour of Okada riders is a major concern and we are determined to deal with this with the strong arm of the Law”, the message read further. “We are introducing First and Last Mile buses next week, which will ply the routes the motorcycles are plying.

“To make the state more secure, we will fully implement the State’s Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law of 2019 which will enable us demolish abandoned buildings and construction sites being used as a safe haven for hoodlums and miscreants.
