DR. OLUWATOYIN SHAKIRAT MADEIN

Xclusive Interactive (literary edition) curtesy of BellaNaija, brings you an interesting interview with Nigeria’s first female Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. Oluwatoyin Shakirat Madein.

In 2023, Oluwatoyin Shakirat Madein was appointed as the Accountant-General of the Federation by former President Muhammadu Buhari. She made history as the first woman to fully occupy this position. Prior to her appointment, she served as an Executive Officer (Accounts) at the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation (OPIC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and was the Director of Finance and Accounts at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

On the 10th of March, Oluwatoyin retired from the public service. We sat down with her to reflect on her time at the office, what it means to be the first female Accountant-General of the Federation and advice for young women aspiring for leadership positions in the country.

Enjoy the conversation!

Hello Dr Oluwatoyin. How are you today?

I am very well. Thank you for asking.

Woman arrested after confessing to removing a man's genitals and heart and eating the body parts, leaving a note next to his remains

TikTok Sale | Trump says US talking to four different groups

President Donald Trump said on Sunday that his administration was in touch with some groups about the sale of Chinese-owned social media platform TikTok, and that all options were good.

Aboard Air Force ONE, U.S. President Donald Trump said that his administration was in touch with four different groups.

TikTok's fate has been up in the air since a law requiring its owner ByteDance to either sell it on national security grounds or face a ban took effect on January 19.

Reportedly, the law banning TikTok materialized amid concerns that the Chinese government could exploit the app for surveillance or covertly influence US public opinion. As the deadline approached, TikTok temporarily shut down its services in the United States and disappeared from app stores, sparking outrage among its millions of American users. However, after beginning his second term in January, Trump suspended the implementation of the ban for two-and-a-half months in an effort to negotiate a resolution with Beijing. This allowed TikTok to restore service and return to Apple and Google app stores in February.

NRM EXPOSES POLITICAL JOBBERS

The attention of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has been drawn to a publication by one Iliyasu Adamu, masquerading as leading the northern caucus of the party pledging support for Edozie Njoku’s fake leadership.

Ordinarily we would not have dignified the said Iliyasu Adamu who obviously is a political jobber that must have been sponsored by the embattled Edozie Njoku, who is desperately seeking relevance to the illegality perpetrated in connivance with Isaac Udeh, the former National Chairman of National Rescue Movement; but to avoid the situation where unsuspecting and ignorant members of the party will be misled by this political propaganda, we have decided to clarify issue as follows:

1. That the Iliyasu Adamu has ceased to be a member of our great party, having been expelled from the party since 2022, when a validly constituted National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, chaired by Mr. Isaac Udeh who was then the National Chairman of the party. Funny enough it is the same Udeh that has turned the same Adamu to a mere tool of propaganda.

CATCH UP CRUISE INTRODUCES DA CELEBRANT

Catch Up Cruise has introduced Da Celebrant as a segment on its monthly television package.

The information which was made known to the media yesterday via a phone interaction with the franchise’s lead anchor and consultant, Solomon Etuk establishes that the new programme segment which is bound to be regular is designed to replace the programme’s current quiz question segment.

According to Solomon, Da Celebrant is considered a better replacement for the CUC quiz question segment because of its larger capacity to accommodate a broader segment of its target audience.

Da Celebrant is a monthly quiz session of Catch Up Cruise designed to celebrate lucky prospective winners within the following categories: Birthday, Wedding Bell, Wedding Anniversary, Christmas, Eid-ul-Maulud, and New Year.
