The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II has welcomed a set of quadruplets from his fifth wife, Queen (Oloi) Aisosa Ewuare II into the Benin Royal Family, Vanguard reports.
According to the report, Oba Ewuare made
the announcement at his palace on Friday in Benin amidst jubilation from
guests.
The news of arrival of the quadruplets which are three boys and a girl, according to Premium Times’ report, was delivered in a statement posted on the Oba of Benin’s official Facebook page on Friday night by Frank Irabor, the Secretary of the Benin traditional Council where he described the birth of the babies as an “unprecedented and historical event” in the Benin Royal family.
“By the grace of the almighty God and the
benevolence of our ancestors, the Benin Traditional Council on behalf of his
royal majesty Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, Oba of Benin and
the Royal Palace of Benin kingdom, joyfully wish to

delighted to announce that her royal highness, Queen Aisosa Ewuare of Benin
Kingdom, has delivered a set of Quadruplets (3 boys and a girl). Yes
Quadruplets,” the statement read.
The children and their mother are in excellent
health, the statement noted, adding that the date for the naming ceremony will
be made public as soon as possible.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports
that the Oba had in May 2020, welcomed his first infant prince after he
ascended the throne of his forebears as the 40th Oba of Benin from her Royal
Highness, Queen (Oloi) Iyayota Ewuare II.
The sexes of the babies who are yet to be
named comprise three infant princesses and an infant prince.
The monarch, paid tribute to God Almighty
and the ancestors for the blessing.
The presiding priest of the oldest West
African Church, better known as Holy Aruosa Church, Ohen-Osa Igbinoghodua
Edebiri, offered prayer to God of wisdom and guidance for the newborns.
Queen (Oloi) Aisosa Ewuare II is the
youngest among the wives of the Benin king.
The brief ceremony coincided with the visit
of national executives of Immaculate Conception College, ICC, Benin which is
the Oba’s Alma-mater.
The group was led by John Osa- Omoregie who
thanked the king for his support towards the development of the school and sued
for more support.
PREMIUM TIMES reported how the Edo State
Government had approved the monarch’s appointment on April 29, 2016. But earlier
before the appointment, the report stated, the palace of the Oba had announced
the death of his predecessor, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Erediauwa on
April 29 even though it was believed by many Nigerians that he had passed on
long before the formal announcement.
Oba Erediauwa, who ascended the throne in 1979,
was 92.
