Neighboring communities and towns, even prominent traders from the big cities converge in this community every market day just because of our healthy and irresistible farm produce. Indeed, we are very lucky to have such a soil in our territory (ahems) Emn … My people, I, virtue of my position as your King, have taken a very wise decision to take over the management and ownership of Kotansibe Farms. (Townspeople murmur in support while Third Chief shakes his head in pity). And I have also decided to constitute an entirely new management (Towspeople are stunned, begin to murmur again)

Nigeria will exit recession soon - Finance Minister

Zainab Ahmed, Nigeria's Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning
 

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has said that the current recession ehich the Nigerian economy recently slid into will be short-lived.

She said this Monday, at the ongoing 26th Nigerian Economic Summit organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group and the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget, and National Planning.

According to her, the country would emerge from the recession in the fourth quarter of this year or by the first quarter of 2021.

University Transpaperency Solution Will Save Nigeri'a Foreign Exchange - Ngige

Nigeria's Minister of Labour and EMployment Chris Ngige has said the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) will save the country's foreign exchange if discovered to be efficient and better than government's preferred Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) as a platform of payment in Nigeria's  university system.

COVID-19: AWEP To Promote Business Growth, Increase Trade

The African Women Entrepreneurship Programme (AWEP) Nigeria chapter has reiterated the commitment of the organisation to promote business growth, increase trade by creating better business environment and empower Nigerian women entrepreneurs amidst the effect of COVID-19 in the country.

A statement made available to Journalists yesterday in Abuja, the national president, AWEP, Mrs Angela  Ajala, said such efforts to promote business growth will be achieved via providing technical and financial, training, export training, mentorship and access to finance through several business partners and a clear path to local and international export markets for products and services.

Ajala noted that the year has been unprecedented in so many ways, adding that several economies have been badly hit with some sectors decimated beyond recognition.

She said in Nigeria there has been the added tumult from the EndSARS protests and its subsequent fallout.

For the first time, an undocumented immigrant is a finalist for the National Book Awards

Karla Cornejo Villavicencio's book "The Undocumented Americans" is a finalist for nonfiction for the National Book Award - the first time an undocumented immigrant has been named. 

According to the CNN report, Cornejo Villavicencio says "This book is for everybody who wants to step away from the buzzwords in immigration, the talking heads, the kids in graduation caps and gowns, and read about the people underground. Not heroes. Randoms. People. Characters".

DAPO ABIODUN HONOURED AS BEST GOVERNOR IN EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT - TVC NEWS

The National Parents Teachers' Association of Nigeria has honoured, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun as the best Governor in Education Development in Nigeria.

According to a TVC News report, the National Vice President of the association , Adeola Ogunbanjo who made the presentation at the Governor's office in Oke-Mosan, said his selection was based on merit and his impact in the education sector.

He also noted that the Governor stopped the payment of education levy, PTA levy, increase the school enrollment figure, introduce visitation panel to higher institutions in the state, rehabilitation of classroom across the state, offering of automatic employment to the best graduating students in all tertiary institutions in the state, career elongation for teachers among others.

The report also has it that the Governor on his part promised to continue to discharge his duties diligently and rewards excellence.

He noted that his administration approved promotion of teachers, reward some teachers in order to encourage others and train teachers on how to be in tune with what is in in vogue across the world.

Governor Akeredolu backs government freezing #EndSARS protesters account - Channels Television

In a recent interview on Channels Television Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State submits that "It was so clear that probably some people were getting to fund this for reasons other than endSARS, so if you know money went from accounts that are suspicious then do you say the government should just keep quiet?". See the video below:


But according to channels in a news report on Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Serving Overseer of The Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC) condemned the shooting of #EndSARS protesters noting that the older generation cannot afford to keep "sinful" silence over the incident. The report has it that the Pastor also condemned the freezing on accounts of #EndSARS protesters describing it as some of the actions taken by the government which needs to be reversed.

Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in a recent interview with channels television said "After they scored the fourth goal, I shed tears for the first time in a long time".

That according to the report was Pinnick's experience with the players in their dressing room after the game between the Super Eagles and Leone Stars of Sierra Leone ended in 4 - 4 home draw.
