Taj Mahal
is an Islamic ivory-white marble mausoleum on the right bank of the river
Yamuna in the Indian city of Agra commissioned in 1632 by the fifth Mughal
emperor Shah Jahan to house the remains of his third but the most favourite and
beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died on 17 June that year, while giving birth to
their 14th child, Gauhara Begum.
The
magnificent multifaceted edifice also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself.
The tomb is the centerpiece of a 17-hectare complex, which includes a mosque
and a guest house, and is set in formal gardens bounded on three sides by a crenellated
wall. Taj Mahal’s stunning architecture has made it one of the most iconic
monuments in the world today and it also regarded as the jewel of Muslim art in
India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage.
Maħall is
also the surname of Mumtaz Mahal, for whom Shah Jahan built the mausoleum.
Taj Mahal is termed the 7 wonders of the world, with the dead body of Mumtaz placed at the Banks of River Yamuna and Shah had his promised fulfilled by constructing the Taj Mahal over her grave with his dead body also laid beside Mumtaz Tomb.

INTRODUCTION: Nigeria is Today Teetering on the Precipice
Nigeria as a national entity is on the verge of collapse. All the indices of state failure are in place. There is an unprecedented level of impunity, and a never-before witnessed orgy of violence across the land. Criminal gangs are holding swathes of the Nigerian territory, bombing state infrastructures, collecting taxes, kidnapping travellers for ransom, sacking whole villages, burning down police stations, dislodging soldiers from their military outposts, abducting school children – transforming some into child soldiers and others into sex slaves, carrying out mass executions, and sending periodic threats to the Federal Government.
In the face of these brazen attacks that are equivalent to an open declaration of war, the government in place appears either utterly incapable or inexplicably unwilling to perform the primary duty of government, namely, to protect the lives and property of Nigerians, to such an extent that many Nigerians in exasperation now wonder if high level agents of government are not actually complicit in this genocidal war against innocent Nigerians. Indeed, many are beginning to believe that there are treasonous persons within the governance structure, who have resolved to destroy the Nigerian state in the manner we are witnessing today.

"The World Malaria Report 2021 reaffirmed the sorry reality of Nigeria and other SSA states: 80 per cent of all malaria deaths in the region were of children under age five. One study described malaria as Nigeria’s No.1 public health problem, accounting for 30 per cent of all under-five deaths, 25 per cent of deaths in infants and 11 per cent of maternal mortality.
The country has failed to utilise or maximise global interventions to reduce the disease burden. Both the 1998 Roll Back Malaria project aimed at malaria burden reduction by at least 50 per cent through precise interventions, and the 2005 Abuja Declaration to overturn malaria burden, were poorly executed. Till date, Nigeria falters and wobbles on lofty malaria eradication initiatives designed to reverse the trend. Like many other national programmes, there is no consistency in implementation as succeeding administrations and ministers often abandon ongoing activities halfway to promote empty new slogans.

European “Courage World Tour” dates May 25 through

As Celine Dion continues to recover from a recent health issue, the singer has announced she will be postponing her 2022 European “Courage World Tour” dates and rescheduling the shows to 2023. The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old widow, Jamila Abdullahi, for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs.

have been in the business of selling intoxicating drugs for over two years.
"On the 30/03/2022 at about 1200hrs,

buying and selling of illicit drugs," the statement read.

that he supports the agitation of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) but is

Asked not to be named for fear of victimization, according to the report, officials of the two institutions, in separate interviews with PREMIUM TIMES, lamented the pardon and accused President Muhammadu Buhari of sabotaging the anti-corruption fight.
“We used to say our problem in our work against corruption is the judiciary but we see a lack of political will by the president,” one EFCC official said.

TO MEND A BROKEN NATION: THE EASTER METAPHOR:
(Easter
Message by Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, Diocese of Sokoto, April 17th, 2022)
1: Hello brothers and sisters in Christ, men and women of goodwill everywhere, I send you hearty greetings and felicitations as we celebrate the risen Christ. Easter is here again. For all Christians, Easter is a metaphor for our lives as individuals, families, communities or nations. Easter is a metaphor for how shame, scandal, powerlessness, weakness, and opprobrium suddenly transform into glory, honour, pre-eminence, laudation and applause. It is a fulfilment of what the Master himself had foretold when He said, ‘Unless a grain of wheat falls on the ground and dies, it remains only a single grain, but if it dies, it bears much fruit’ (Jn. 12: 24). And the Psalmist had said, ‘Those who sow in tears will sing when they reap.’ (Ps. 126:5).
The All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Wednesday, said part of his assignment as the ruling party chairman would be to ensure the recruitment of the best hands from the Peoples Democratic Party into the APC.
Adamu spoke on Wednesday during the Valedictory/Commendation Session by the Senate in honour of outgoing lawmakers recently elected to other offices.
“ … every session of the National Assembly has always taken it upon itself to tinker with the Constitution, yet the major pillars of the nation’s grundnorm – centralised federalism – remain unchanged. At the federal level, the Legislature and Judiciary enjoy relative independence, except in instances where their leaderships voluntarily surrender their independence to the Executive for whatever gain. But at the state level, their independence is hampered by the fact that they depend on the state purse, which is controlled by the Executive, to operate.
Governors have also deprived the grassroots electorate of their right to elect their own local government leadership by ensuring that their parties always win. Local government elections have become the means by which governors plant their surrogates to enable them control local government funds. One of the problems this spawns is the prevalence of the “ungoverned spaces” syndrome and attendant security breaches all over the country.
