US Embassy Honours Five Nigerian Content Creators

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has celebrated five outstanding Nigerian content creators for their creativity and cultural impact through the “Made in America, Loved in Nigeria” video contest.

The recognition highlights the growing cultural and economic ties between both nations.

On December 18, 2025, the US Embassy in Abuja hosted an award ceremony to honour five Nigerian creators whose submissions stood out in the contest designed to showcase American products embraced in Nigeria.

The event was a vibrant celebration of innovation, storytelling, and cross-cultural collaboration. The grand prize winner was Rasheedat Fagbenle, whose entry captured the essence of the competition.

Other winners included Tito Abumere, Janefrancis Odinkemma Ugwu from Abuja, Cyril Usheshe from Cross River State, and Timileyin Durotoye from Osun State.

The contest, themed “Made in America, Loved in Nigeria,” was conceived to strengthen cultural and economic relations between the United States and Nigeria.

According to Lee McManis, Country Public Diplomacy Counsellor at the US Embassy, the initiative was not only about celebrating creativity but also about deepening economic partnerships.

He emphasized that more than 100 major American companies currently operate in Nigeria, underscoring the importance of bilateral trade and investment.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Richard M. Mills Jr. delivered welcome remarks, praising the ingenuity and enthusiasm of the participants. He noted that the contest was more than a showcase of American products; it was a platform for Nigerian creators to express their imagination and highlight the cultural synergy between both countries.

The Ambassador described the event as a testament to the power of creativity in bridging communities and fostering mutual understanding.

The recognition of these five creators reflects the Embassy’s broader commitment to supporting Nigeria’s creative economy, which has become a global force through music, film, fashion, and digital content.

By spotlighting young talents, the US Embassy aims to encourage innovation and provide opportunities for Nigerian creators to engage with international audiences.

This initiative also aligns with the United States’ diplomatic strategy of cultural diplomacy, where art, media, and storytelling serve as tools to build stronger ties.

For Nigeria, whose creative industry continues to expand rapidly, such recognition provides validation and visibility on a global stage.

The winners not only receive accolades but also become ambassadors of cultural exchange, representing the fusion of American influence with Nigerian creativity.

The “Made in America, Loved in Nigeria” contest demonstrates how creativity can serve as a bridge between nations.

The honoured Nigerian content creators embody the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and cultural pride.

Their recognition by the US Embassy is both a celebration of individual talent and a reaffirmation of the enduring partnership between Nigeria and the United States.
