Nancy Sabanti Nathan, Ag. Head of Service, FCTA
Nancy Sabanti Nathan Appointed Acting Head of Service for FCTA
In a
swift administrative response to an unexpected vacancy, the Minister of the
Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has appointed Mrs. Nancy Sabanti
Nathan as the Acting Head of Service of the Federal Capital Territory
Administration (FCTA).
This appointment follows the passing of the former Head of Service, Mrs. Grace Adayilo, who died last week, leaving a critical leadership gap in the FCTA.
The
announcement was made through a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, Senior
Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT
Minister. According to the statement, Nathan’s appointment takes immediate
effect and will remain in an acting capacity until a substantive Head of
Service is named.
Before
her elevation to this new role, Mrs. Nathan served as the Permanent Secretary
of the Youth Development Secretariat within the FCTA. Her career trajectory
also includes a tenure as Director of Finance and Administration in the office
of the FCT Minister, a position that underscored her administrative competence
and familiarity with the inner workings of the territory’s governance structure.
The
decision to appoint Nathan reflects the administration’s commitment to
continuity and stability in the face of sudden leadership changes. Her
experience and institutional knowledge are expected to provide a steady hand as
the FCTA navigates ongoing reforms and service delivery challenges.
This
development comes at a time when the FCT is undergoing significant policy
shifts, including stricter enforcement of land use regulations and renewed
efforts to streamline administrative processes. As Acting Head of Service,
Nathan will be tasked with overseeing the civil service machinery of the
territory, ensuring that government operations continue seamlessly and that
public service standards are upheld.
Her
appointment has been met with cautious optimism by stakeholders who view her as
a seasoned bureaucrat capable of steering the FCTA through this transitional
period.
While the
search for a permanent Head of Service continues, Nathan’s leadership will be
pivotal in maintaining momentum across various departments and initiatives.
