World Press Conference by Pastor Olumide Obadele
On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, Pastor Olumide Obadele, Director General of the Progressives Network for Tinubu (PNT), addressed a World Press Conference at the NUJ Press Centre, FCT Council Secretariat, Abuja. The event was convened to highlight the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and to rally support for his re-election bid in 2027.
Pastor Obadele opened the session by acknowledging the patriotic duty of his group in engaging the press as Nigeria prepares for another round of elections. He emphasized the strategic role played by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, in galvanizing grassroots support, particularly in Ondo State, through humanitarian initiatives and organizational backing for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
The central theme of the briefing was “Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda: Beyond Mere Rhetoric.” Pastor Obadele asserted that the last three years of Tinubu’s leadership had been marked by fulfilled promises and bold policy decisions that have repositioned Nigeria. He outlined four major areas of accomplishment:
Economic Reforms
The administration’s economic recovery efforts began with the removal of fuel subsidy on May 29, 2023. This policy freed up significant funds for distribution across the three tiers of government, enabling broader development initiatives. Another landmark reform was the floating of the Naira, which replaced the fixed exchange rate system. This move bridged the gap between official and parallel market rates, thereby stabilizing the economy and strengthening investor confidence.
Educational Advancement
Pastor Obadele highlighted the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a transformative initiative. Launched in May 2024, NELFUND has disbursed over ₦206 billion to more than 1.16 million students, covering tuition and upkeep. For instance, ₦1.33 billion was allocated to the University of Lagos for the 2025/2026 academic session. The program ensures that no Nigerian is denied access to tertiary education due to financial constraints, aligning the country with global standards of educational support.
Infrastructure Development
The Tinubu administration has adopted concrete technology in road
construction, leading to several ambitious projects designed to enhance
national integration and open new economic corridors. These
include:
- The 1,068 km Sokoto–Badagry North-South Super Highway with a rail line
in the median.
- The 750 km Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway.
- The 477 km Trans-Saharan Highway traversing Calabar, Ebonyi, Kogi,
Nasarawa, and the FCT.
- The 422 km Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Highway.
Pastor Obadele described these projects as legacy undertakings that will cement Nigeria’s unity and economic progress.
International Image Redemption
Nigeria’s global standing has improved significantly under Tinubu’s administration. The Ministry of Interior, led by Dr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, has digitized passport processes, introducing polycarbonate technology and automation. As a result, Nigeria’s passport ranking on the Henley Passport Index rose from 103rd in 2025 to 89th in January 2026, granting visa-free access to 45 destinations.
Additionally, President Tinubu’s historic two-day state visit to the United Kingdom, at the invitation of King Charles III, was hailed as a milestone in Nigeria’s diplomatic relations. It marked the first such visit by a Nigerian president in 57 years, underscoring international acceptance of Tinubu’s leadership.
Closing Remarks
Pastor Obadele concluded by urging Nigerians to unite in ensuring the continuity of Tinubu’s administration beyond 2027. He called on citizens to actively participate in the electioneering process, stressing that the vision of building a Nigeria that all can be proud of is achievable. His final words resonated with optimism: “It is possible and we can do it. It is achievable and we are already on the right track.”
This press conference served both as a review of Tinubu’s accomplishments and a rallying cry for his re-election campaign, positioning the administration’s achievements as a foundation for Nigeria’s future progress.
