FCTA PRESS RELEASE
PRESIDENT TINUBU COMMISSIONS MABUSHI-AHMADU BELLO WAY LINK ROAD IN ABUJA
…REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO
UNLOCKING FCT’S ECONOMIC POTENTIAL
As part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has
officially commissioned the full-scope development of Collector Roads C01 and C02 in Mabushi District,
seamlessly linking the Mabushi bus terminal to the Ahmadu Bello Way in Abuja.
The President, who was represented at the high-profile ceremony by Vice
President Kashim Shettima, on Friday, June 26, 2026, declared that the
completion of the road serves as a tangible manifestation of his
administration's Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to eliminate traffic
bottlenecks, boost local productivity, and significantly improve the daily
lives of residents.
While describing infrastructure as the foundational
backbone of any modern economy, President
Tinubu noted that the current administration, by opening up the road which connects directly from the Mabushi bus terminal into the wider
FCT, has transformed asphalt into channels of commerce and
unity, ensuring that citizens can pursue their economic dreams without fear or
delay.
"This afternoon, we are not just opening two roads; we are opening
up Abuja. We are connecting people to opportunity and cutting hours of waste
from daily life. Infrastructure is the backbone of a modern economy. By
strengthening interconnectivity here in Mabushi District, we are strengthening
the entire Federal Capital Territory”, President
Tinubu stated
He praised the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for his focused
leadership and relentless drive for results, stressing that the Minister has transformed urban blueprints
into functional roads spanning from satellite towns to the city center.
"I gave you a simple charge: ‘Make Abuja work for all.’ You took it
and ran with it. From satellite towns to the city centre, you are turning blueprints
into roads people can drive on today," the President added, while also
thanking the residents of the FCT for their patience during the construction
phase.
Speaking earlier, the FCT Minister, Barr.
Nyesom Wike, emphasized that the project aligns with the President's strict
directive that every district in Abuja must feel the impact of the current
administration.
Barr. Wike pointed out that the Mabushi
commissioning is part of an intensive, consecutive 31-day timeline celebrating
completed projects across the territory. He noted that just the day before, the President commissioned the
Jahi-Gwarimpa interchange at Katampe, and announced that the administration
will move to the Karu Satellite Town on Monday to commission another major road
project.
The FCT Minister attributed the sweeping successes entirely to the unwavering financial and logistical support of President Tinubu, noting that a focused leadership leaves subordinates with no choice but to deliver top-tier results.
“Everybody is saying that things are happening
in the FCT. It is because of you. It is because
of your leadership. When you have courageous leadership, when you have assertive leadership, when you have leadership that is focused and
determined to achieve results, the subordinates do not have any other choice. We have no choice but to
do what you've directed us to do, because all the logistics have been given to
us. I want to sincerely thank you for
standing by us”, Barrister Wike stated
The Minister who also drew attention to the immediate
economic windfall generated by the newly completed project, said it has already triggered a massive boom
in real estate, with premium housing developments rapidly springing up along
the corridor and attracting eager buyers.
He thanked the President for consistently availing
himself to celebrate those milestones with the people, proving that things are
actively changing for the better, across both the city center and peripheral
towns.
In her remarks, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud,
described the event as a celebration of progress, enhanced connectivity, and
aesthetic transformation for the capital city and expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu, Vice President
Shettima, and the FCT Minister for their
visionary leadership.
Dr. Mahmoud also extended gratitude to the National Assembly, the
diplomatic community, security agencies, traditional rulers, and the FCTA
staff, while urging residents to exercise collective responsibility in
preserving the new infrastructure for future generations.
Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr Richard Yunana Dauda while presenting the technical details of the project, said the scope of work included the construction of a variety of collector roads in the city, which is called special important local streets (SILS). He stated that the construction of Collector Road C01 and CO2 in Mabushi was part of the government's effort to bring about progressive development in Mabushi as well as seamless interconnectivity with adjoining districts.
Engr Dauda said that the scope of work included dual carriageway of two lanes in each direction, and covers about 3.4 kilometers. He revealed that the road also came with integrated infrastructure like surface water drainage, box supply culverts of various sizes, sewer pipe network, water supply pipe network, telecommunication ducts, walkways as well as street lights.
Representing the construction firm, Setraco Nigeria Plc, Managing Director Engr Ziad Mouannes, disclosed that the project, originally flagged off in September 2025, was successfully completed in less than 10 months. He assured that the road was built to the highest specifications using premium materials and thanked the FCT Administration for its unwavering confidence in their engineering capacity.
