Betta Edu Urges Support for Government’s Security Efforts
Former
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, has issued
a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians, urging collective support for the government’s
ongoing security initiatives.
In a statement shared on her social media, Edu reaffirmed her commitment to the nation and its most vulnerable citizens, emphasizing that she has always given her best in service. She described spending “unending hours” reaching communities often overlooked by people of her status, driven by a deep desire to uplift the poor and strengthen the country’s social fabric.
Edu
underscored that the true measure of a nation lies in its ability to care for
its weakest members. She expressed confidence that her integrity and
“irreproachability” would eventually be recognized, noting that “darkness would
give way to daylight.” Her message carried a strong call for unity, encouraging
Nigerians to maintain faith in the country, promote peaceful coexistence, and
stand firmly behind the President, governors, and security agencies as they
confront the nation’s pressing challenges.
In
addition to her appeal for solidarity, Edu extended condolences to families who
have lost loved ones in recent incidents of insecurity. She voiced optimism
that the renewed strategies initiated by the President would ensure the safe
return of abducted schoolchildren and other victims in Kebbi, Niger, and other
affected states. “Every life matters; we must stand together to fight poverty
and insecurity as a nation,” she declared, ending her message with an
expression of affection for all Nigerians.
This
statement reflects Edu’s broader vision of national resilience, where combating
poverty and insecurity are inseparable goals. Her words highlight the
importance of collective responsibility in addressing Nigeria’s challenges,
positioning unity and compassion as the foundation for lasting peace and
progress.
