APC Convention – President Tinubu’s Full Speech at Eagle Square
At the
All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention held at Eagle Square in
Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu delivered a comprehensive and impassioned
speech that underscored themes of unity, reform, and national renewal.
His
address was both a reflection on the party’s journey since its founding in 2013
and a roadmap for Nigeria’s future under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
President Tinubu began with gratitude to God and pride in the achievements of the APC, emphasizing that the convention was not merely a ritual but a defining chapter in Nigeria’s democratic story.
He
highlighted the theme, “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope
Agenda,” stressing that unity remains the cornerstone of progress and the
party’s greatest strength. He warned against the dangers of ego, ambition, and
division, urging members to recommit to the ideals of discipline, justice, and
development.
Reflecting
on the party’s history, Tinubu paid tribute to founding leaders, including the
late President Muhammadu Buhari, and reminded delegates that the APC was built
as a vehicle for national transformation, not personal ambition.
He
defended the 2026 Electoral Act against opposition criticism, asserting that it
was the product of legislative scrutiny and public participation, and
reaffirmed his government’s commitment to credible elections and the rule of
law.
Turning
to governance, Tinubu outlined achievements since 2023: infrastructure
expansion, fiscal reforms, social investment programmes, and strengthened
national security. He noted economic progress, including declining inflation,
trade surpluses, improved investor confidence, and Nigeria’s exit from the FATF
Grey List.
Yet, he
acknowledged persistent challenges in electricity supply and announced plans
for the Grid Asset Management Company to inject new capacity into the national
grid.
The
President spoke directly to Nigeria’s youth, describing them as the nation’s
greatest asset and pledging greater inclusion in decision-making. He also
emphasized the vital role of women, promising expanded leadership opportunities
within the party and government. His call was for a party that empowers both
groups to shape Nigeria’s democratic future.
Tinubu
urged delegates to conduct themselves with integrity during the convention,
stressing that contests must not divide the party. He praised the Convention
Planning Committee, governors, and ministers for their dedication, and charged
newly elected leaders to carry their responsibilities with humility and vision.
He
celebrated the APC’s growth, noting the influx of new members from other
parties, and called for credible leadership anchored in transparency and a
reliable membership database.
In
closing, President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to building a Nigeria of
dignity, opportunity, and prosperity. He invoked blessings upon the APC and the
Federal Republic of Nigeria, leaving delegates with a message of unity,
discipline, and purpose.
