Tinubu Meets Trump at White House AI Summit
On March
25, 2026, the White House in Washington, D.C., became the stage for a landmark
gathering focused on artificial intelligence, digital safety, and education.
The
event, titled the Fostering the Future Together Summit, was hosted by
United States First Lady Melania Trump and brought together First Ladies from
44 nations, including Nigeria’s Oluremi Tinubu and France’s Brigitte Macron.
The
Nigerian First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, joined her global counterparts in
discussions centered on expanding access to educational tools and strengthening
safeguards for children navigating increasingly complex digital environments.
According to her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, Tinubu’s participation underscored Nigeria’s commitment to preparing its youth for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
A major
highlight of the summit was the unveiling of Figure 3, a humanoid AI
system developed in the United States. This marked the first time such advanced
technology was introduced to world leaders in a diplomatic setting.
In her
keynote address, Melania Trump emphasized the transformative potential of
artificial intelligence, warning that it could reshape the global order. She
noted that AI would soon evolve from mobile applications into humanoid forms
capable of delivering utility, urging nations to prepare their children to
thrive in this new framework.
Trump
called for coordinated global action, stressing the importance of investing in
youth development. She argued that equipping young people with digital skills
and expanding access to opportunities would be essential to ensuring that
emerging technologies benefit societies worldwide.
Representatives
from nine countries, including the United States, France, Poland, the United
Arab Emirates, and Morocco, presented national strategies for integrating
technology into education systems.
The
summit not only highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence
in shaping the future but also reinforced the role of international
collaboration in addressing its challenges.
For
Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu’s presence signaled a strong commitment to ensuring
that the nation’s youth are prepared for the rapidly evolving digital
landscape.
