FCT Police Kick Off 2026 National Police Day with Sanitation, Free Medical Outreach

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command officially launched the 2026 National Police Day celebrations on March 30, 2026, with a community sanitation exercise and free medical outreach in Area 1, Abuja. The initiative, led by Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammad, emphasized public health, environmental hygiene, and stronger police-community relations.

The 2026 National Police Day commenced in Abuja with a unique focus on community service.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command chose to highlight its commitment to public welfare by organizing a sanitation drive and a free medical outreach program.

These activities were designed not only to mark the annual celebration but also to reinforce the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to people-centered policing.

On Monday, March 30, 2026, officers of the FCT Police Command, alongside residents of Area 1, Abuja, participated in a coordinated clean-up exercise. The initiative involved clearing waste, improving environmental hygiene, and promoting sustainable practices.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the exercise was part of a broader effort to deepen community engagement and foster a cleaner, healthier environment.  

Complementing the sanitation drive, the Police Command organized a free medical outreach targeting vulnerable groups within the community. Residents received essential healthcare services, including medical consultations, screenings, and basic treatments.

Commissioner of Police Ahmed Muhammad emphasized that the outreach underscored the police’s role beyond law enforcement, serving as partners in public health and wellbeing.  

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammad, PhD, FCAI, personally led the activities, symbolizing the command’s commitment to service and partnership.

He reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to community engagement, environmental sustainability, and public health, noting that such initiatives strengthen trust between the police and the citizens they serve.  

The 2026 National Police Day celebrations in Abuja reflect a shift toward community-oriented policing, where officers actively contribute to social development.

By combining sanitation and healthcare services, the FCT Police Command demonstrated that policing is not limited to crime prevention but extends to improving the quality of life for residents.
