DISCLAIMER NOTICE

The office of the Supreme Subordinate President, Nights of St. John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria, has issued a public statement regarding an Incident in Nnewi Diocese.

According to the statement dated January 15, 2026, the attention of the Knights of St. John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria, has been drawn to an unfortunate incident that occurred in the Nnewi Diocese during the solemn dedication of the Cathedral on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, involving Mr. James Okoye.

It states further that the actions of the individual are not in line with the values and teachings of the Roman Catholic Church nor those of the Knights of St. John International, whose principles uphold filial respect for the Church and her clergy as sacrosanct.

Unequivocally condemning this behaviour the statement further submits that the Knights of St. John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria assure the Church that the leadership of the Order in Nigeria is addressing the matter with utmost seriousness, in accordance with the disciplinary provisions of its Constitution.

According to the statement the office extends sincere apologies to its spiritual fathers and the Church for the embarrassment caused and therefore reaffirms its commitment to the ideals of -

The statement which was signed by Sir Joachim Chuks Amamgbo, Supreme Subordinate President, Nigeria ended with “May our Patron Saint, St. John the Baptist, continue to intercede for us”
