2027 - Ganduje Declares Bola Tinubu the Best Candidate to Govern Nigeria
In a bold
political statement delivered in Abuja, Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past
national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of
Kano State, asserted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the most
qualified candidate to lead Nigeria beyond 2027.
Ganduje
dismissed speculation that northern Nigeria might oppose Tinubu’s re-election
bid, describing such assumptions as a “big mistake.”
Speaking while receiving a delegation of youth leaders from the 19 northern states, Ganduje emphasized Tinubu’s unique political pedigree. He argued that Nigeria is fortunate to have a president whose entire life has been rooted in political struggle and democratic activism.
He
recalled Tinubu’s sacrifices during Nigeria’s pro-democracy battles, including
his time in exile, and insisted that no other candidate embodies the spirit of
unity and resilience as much as Tinubu.
Ganduje
highlighted Tinubu’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel
subsidy, as evidence of his courage and commitment to national interest. He
noted that while previous administrations and rival candidates had promised to
remove the subsidy, none had the political will to execute it.
According
to Ganduje, Tinubu’s decision has already yielded benefits, with state
governors across political divides receiving increased funds for development.
The
former APC chairman also referenced a political understanding reached before
Muhammadu Buhari’s presidency, which stipulated that power would return to the
South after eight years. He argued that Tinubu, having served less than four
years, deserves continuity to consolidate his reforms and policies.
Ganduje
praised the northern youth leaders for their mobilization efforts and financial
contributions toward Tinubu’s re-election campaign, describing their commitment
as a powerful demonstration of loyalty and belief in Tinubu’s leadership.
On their
part, the youth leaders, led by Murtala Gamji, pledged massive support for
Tinubu’s second-term bid. They announced plans to mobilize youths across the
northern states and raise funds to purchase his nomination form.
Gamji
rejected claims that the North is opposed to Tinubu, stressing that no leader
has supported northern interests as much as the current president.
The event
concluded with the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum conferring on Ganduje
the title of grand patron, symbolizing their recognition of his role in
championing Tinubu’s political vision.
Ganduje’s
declaration underscores the APC’s internal confidence in Tinubu’s candidacy and
sets the tone for what promises to be a highly contested 2027 presidential
election.
