The
Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of three suspects in
connection with the abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu in Malabu.
Among
those apprehended is Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, the biological son of the victim, a
revelation that has shocked the local community. The arrests were made during a
joint operation involving police officers and members of the Miyetti Allah
group at a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Jera village, Malabu district,
within Fufore Local Government Area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the operation was part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crimes across the state.
The
abduction of Alhaji Ahmadu occurred on January 30, 2026, prompting directives
from Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris to intensify action against
criminal elements. The suspects arrested during the raid were identified as
Lawali Haruna, 45; Yahaya Ibrahim, 25; and Da’u Alhaji Ahmadu, 28. All three
are residents of Jera village and reportedly confessed to their involvement in
the crime.
Authorities
have confirmed that efforts are underway to rescue the victim unharmed and to
apprehend other members of the alleged kidnapping syndicate.
Commissioner
Morris commended the collaboration between the police and local security
groups, emphasizing the importance of community support in tackling insecurity.
He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and
property, urging the public to continue providing timely and credible
information to security agencies.
The case
underscores the growing challenge of kidnapping in Nigeria and highlights the
disturbing trend of family members being implicated in such crimes.
Investigations
are ongoing, and further updates are expected as the police pursue additional
suspects linked to the syndicate.
