Why We Invited Pastor Chris Okafor for Questioning - Police
The Lagos
State Police Command has formally invited Pastor Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of
Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, to answer allegations of sexual
offences and conduct deemed capable of breaching public peace.
The controversy surrounding Pastor Okafor intensified after Nollywood actress Doris Ogala accused him of “mischief” in connection with a viral video showing the pastor proposing to another woman despite allegedly promising her marriage. This public accusation triggered a wave of further claims, including multiple allegations of rape, sexual misconduct, and other actions considered disruptive to law and order in Lagos State.
In a
statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola
Adebisi, and endorsed by Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh, the police
emphasized that the investigation is being handled by the State Criminal
Investigation Department (SCID), Panti. The pastor has been served an
invitation letter through his legal representative and is expected to cooperate
fully with investigators.
The
police assured victims of full confidentiality and protection, urging them to
come forward to recount their experiences. Commissioner Jimoh directed
immediate security coverage for all victims and reiterated that justice will be
pursued without bias or sentiment. The statement further encouraged individuals
with credible information or evidence to assist the investigation, stressing
that the process will be conducted professionally and transparently.
The Lagos
State Police Command underscored its commitment to maintaining public peace and
safety, affirming that no individual, regardless of status, is above the law.
The
investigation into Pastor Okafor’s alleged offences is ongoing, with the
authorities determined to ensure that justice prevails in the matter.
