The Future Awards Africa 2025: Celebrating Young Leaders Shaping the Continent

The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) has unveiled its 2025 nominee list, marking the 19th edition of what is widely regarded as the continent’s most prestigious platform for recognizing young achievers.

This year’s theme, “Threads of Legacy,” underscores the enduring impact of youth-led innovation, creativity, and leadership across Africa. The awards continue to spotlight individuals whose work is not only inspirational but foundational to Africa’s evolving narrative.

The 2025 edition is historic in scope, featuring 25 categories, the most in TFAA’s history—reflecting the expanding diversity of excellence among African youth. New additions include the Performing Arts category, which honors stage and screen creatives, and the Service to Young People honorary category, which celebrates individuals championing youth causes continent-wide.

Ayodeji Razaq, Executive Director of The Future Awards Africa, emphasized the significance of this year’s nominees, stating that the future of Africa is being woven today by these changemakers. He described them as artists, tech enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, advocates, and innovators whose legacies will shape generations to come.

Among the standout nominees are Rasheedat Ajibade, a footballer with Paris Saint-Germain; Fola David, a medical doctor and visual artist; Akinyemi Oluwaseun Omotayo (Asherkine), a community leader; Victor Ugo, a mental health advocate; Poco Lee, a renowned dancer; Gbubemi Ejeye, an actress; Tomike Adeoye, a media personality and entrepreneur; Kelvin Umechukwu, a tech entrepreneur; Hauwa Shaffii Nuhu, a writer; and Dongio Casil (Djec Fashion) from Cameroon, representing the fashion industry.

The categories span a wide array of fields including Creativity and Innovation, Photography, Education, Journalism, Content Creation, Health and Fitness, Community Action, Arts, Literature, Activism and Advocacy, Fashion, Law, Film, Professional Service, Entrepreneurship, Technology, Performing Arts, Intrapreneurship, On-Air Personality, Agriculture, Governance, Music, Sports, Acting, and the honorary Service to Young People. Each nominee exemplifies the resilience, ingenuity, and drive that define Africa’s new generation of leaders.

The judging process will be overseen by a distinguished panel of experts and visionaries, ensuring a rigorous and transparent selection that reflects the caliber of the nominees.
