UNILAG Prohibits Unauthorized Skitmaking and Content Creation on Campus
The
University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has officially banned the unauthorized use
of its campus facilities, including hostels and academic spaces, for
skitmaking, filmmaking, and other forms of content creation.
This directive was announced in a statement released on Thursday, October 28, 2025, and signed by Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, the Head of Communication at the university.
UNILAG
expressed growing concern over the increasing trend of individuals, both
students and outsiders, using the university’s premises to shoot skits, vox
pops, and cinematographic content without prior approval.
According
to the statement, such activities have raised alarms about the potential
misrepresentation of the institution’s image and the disruption of its academic
environment.
To
address this, the university emphasized that it has established formal
procedures for recording or producing content on campus.
These
procedures are designed to uphold safety, maintain decorum, and preserve the
integrity of both academic and residential spaces.
The
statement made it clear that any individual, whether a student, staff member,
or external collaborator, must obtain official authorization from the
university’s communications unit before engaging in any filming activities.
UNILAG’s
management urged all members of the university community and the general public
to comply strictly with this directive.
The move
is framed as a measure to ensure order, safety, and collective responsibility
within the institution.
