Soludo Applauds New Service Chiefs, Calls for Unified Security Strategy
In a
decisive show of support for the newly appointed military leadership, Governor
Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has extended his congratulations to Nigeria’s
fresh crop of service chiefs, emphasizing the urgent need for stronger
collaboration in tackling the nation’s evolving security challenges.
President Bola Tinubu recently announced the appointment of General Olufemi Oluyede as Chief of Defence Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff. These appointments, according to the presidency, are part of broader efforts to reinforce Nigeria’s national security architecture.
Governor
Soludo, in a statement released through his Press Secretary Christian Aburime,
described the appointments as a pivotal moment for Nigeria’s security
landscape. He expressed confidence in the leadership and expertise of the newly
appointed officers, noting that their military experience would be instrumental
in navigating the complex security terrain facing the country.
Soludo
urged the service chiefs to engage all stakeholders in a unified approach to
combat insecurity. He stressed that collaboration across federal, state, and
community levels is essential to safeguarding lives and property.
The
governor reaffirmed Anambra State’s commitment to supporting the Federal
Government and the new military leadership in their mission to restore peace,
particularly in the South-East region.
The
governor’s message also underscored the importance of strategic engagement and
inclusive dialogue in addressing the root causes of unrest. He called for a
security framework that is not only robust but also responsive to the unique
dynamics of each region.
As
Nigeria continues to grapple with threats ranging from insurgency to banditry
and communal violence, the appointments of these seasoned officers mark a
renewed push for stability.
Soludo’s
endorsement signals a readiness among state leaders to align with federal
initiatives aimed at securing the nation.
The
transition in military leadership was confirmed by the President’s Special
Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, who noted that the
changes were made to strengthen the country’s security apparatus.
With the
new service chiefs now in place, expectations are high for a more coordinated
and effective response to Nigeria’s pressing security concerns.
