A Day of Legacy and Vision: President Tinubu's Landmark Visit to Imo
State
In a
momentous convergence of federal and state aspirations, President Bola Ahmed
Tinubu embarked on a one-day working visit to Imo State on September 30, 2025,
to commission a suite of transformative projects executed under the stewardship
of Governor Hope Uzodimma.
The visit, marked by grandeur and strategic symbolism, also featured the unveiling of Governor Uzodimma’s new book, A Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria, a reflective chronicle of leadership and reform.
Owerri,
the state capital, became the epicenter of national attention as dignitaries,
traditional rulers, youth groups, and enthusiastic citizens gathered to witness
the commissioning of key infrastructure projects that underscore the Renewed
Hope Agenda.
Among the
highlights were the refurbished Imo Concorde Hilton Hotel, the Emmanuel
Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre, the Asumpta Flyover, and the Imo
Digital Learning Centre, each a testament to the state’s commitment to
modernization and inclusive development.
President
Tinubu’s presence was more than ceremonial. It signaled a deepening of
federal-state collaboration, particularly in areas of infrastructure renewal,
digital innovation, and youth empowerment.
The
rebuilt Owerri–Mbaise–Obowo–Umuahia Road and the twin flyover connecting Port
Harcourt and Onitsha Roads were lauded as strategic arteries for commerce and
mobility, enhancing regional integration and economic flow.
Governor
Uzodimma’s digital initiatives also took center stage. Platforms such as
MylmoApp, the Imo Digital City, and the SkillUplmo Techosphere have trained
over 40,000 youths in advanced digital skills, shifting the narrative from
dependency to global competitiveness. These efforts align seamlessly with the
federal government’s push for a tech-driven economy and job creation.
The
unveiling of Governor Uzodimma’s book added intellectual depth to the day’s
proceedings. The publication, which chronicles a decade of progressive
governance, was praised for its insights into policy, leadership, and the
evolving dynamics of Nigerian federalism. President Tinubu, joined by other
dignitaries, commended the governor’s vision and contributions to national
development.
As the
sun set over Owerri, the day stood as a vivid illustration of what purposeful
governance can achieve. It was not merely about roads and buildings, it was
about legacy, empowerment, and the shared dream of a prosperous Nigeria.
