-SPECIAL REPORT-
PRESIDENT TINUBU COMMISSIONS LANDMARK PROJECTS IN IMO AND UNVEILS
GOVERNOR UZODIMMA’S BOOK
In a
momentous one-day working visit to Imo State on September 30, 2025, President
Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure
renewal, digital transformation, and regional development.
The visit, marked by the commissioning of several high-impact projects and the unveiling of a seminal publication by Governor Hope Uzodimma, drew widespread attention and acclaim across Nigeria.
President Tinubu arrived at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri to a rousing welcome from thousands of residents, traditional leaders, youth groups, and dignitaries.
The city of Owerri was abuzz with excitement as major roads
were temporarily closed to accommodate the influx of attendees converging at
the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC), the centerpiece
of the day’s events.
Among the
projects commissioned were the newly refurbished Concorde Hilton Hotel, the
state-of-the-art Imo Digital Learning Centre, the twin flyover at Assumpta
Cathedral Roundabout, and the reconstructed 60km Owerri–Mbaise–Obowo–Umuahia
Federal Road. These projects, executed under Governor Uzodimma’s
administration, were hailed as transformative milestones that align with the
Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
In
addition to physical infrastructure, President Tinubu spotlighted Imo State’s
strides in digital innovation and youth empowerment. Governor Uzodimma’s
initiatives, such as the MylmoApp, the Imo Digital City (IDCL), and the
SkillUplmo Techosphere, have trained over 40,000 young people in advanced
digital skills, positioning them for global competitiveness and reducing
reliance on political patronage.
The
Orashi Free Trade Zone, another flagship project, was also highlighted for its
success in attracting over seven oil and gas companies, thereby boosting
industrialisation and job creation in the region. This synergy between federal
and state development strategies was described by the Presidency as a “living
impact” of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Capping
the day’s events was the formal unveiling of Governor Uzodimma’s book titled A
Decade of Impactful Progressive Governance in Nigeria. The publication
chronicles the governor’s journey, achievements, and policy innovations,
offering insights into governance models that have shaped Imo State’s
trajectory. President Tinubu, joined by other dignitaries, praised the book as
a testament to visionary leadership and a valuable contribution to Nigeria’s
political literature.
This
visit marked President Tinubu’s second official trip to Imo State since
assuming office, reinforcing political cohesion within the ruling party and
showcasing the Southeast’s growing role in national development.
As the curtains fell on the day’s ceremonies, the message was clear: Imo State is not only building infrastructure but also building a future, one project, one policy, and one empowered citizen at a time.
