Collision at LaGuardia - Two Delta Jets Involved in Taxiway Accident

On the night of October 1, 2025, a startling incident unfolded at New York’s LaGuardia Airport when two regional jets operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air collided while taxiing.

The event occurred at approximately 9:58 p.m. local time, as one aircraft was preparing for departure to Roanoke, Virginia, and the other had just arrived from Charlotte, North Carolina.

The collision, described by Delta as a “low-speed impact,” resulted in significant damage to both aircraft and left one flight attendant injured.

The aircraft involved were Canadair CRJ-900 jets, each carrying passengers and crew totaling 93 individuals. Endeavor Air flight 5155, scheduled to depart for Roanoke, reportedly had its wing torn off, while flight 5047, arriving from Charlotte, sustained a badly dented nose.

Passengers aboard both flights described the moment as “terrifying,” with one CBS News producer recounting how everyone was jolted forward in their seats during the impact. Emergency crews responded swiftly, escorting passengers off the planes and transporting them back to Terminal C via shuttle buses.

Delta Airlines confirmed that all passengers were unharmed and provided with food, hotel accommodations, and rebookings for their disrupted travel plans.

The injured flight attendant was treated on-site by EMTs and later taken to a hospital as a precaution. Despite the severity of the damage, operations at LaGuardia Airport continued without disruption, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Photographs and videos from the scene circulated widely, showing flashing emergency lights and the crumpled wreckage of one aircraft’s nose.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has launched an investigation into the incident, which adds to a growing list of aviation safety concerns in the United States.

Industry insiders have voiced alarm over staffing reductions at the FAA, particularly within critical safety teams such.
