Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart Reignite The Faces: A Reunion in the Making
Ronnie
Wood, the legendary guitarist of The Rolling Stones, has revealed that he is
actively working on new music with his longtime friend and former bandmate Sir
Rod Stewart.
This exciting development marks a potential revival of their iconic band, The Faces, which originally formed in 1969 and became famous for hits like “Stay With Me.”
In a
candid interview on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Wood shared that he and
Stewart have been back in the studio, revisiting unfinished songs from their
earlier days. He expressed genuine enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating,
“We would love to do that. We’ve got these songs that we’re working on from
back in the day, but it’s hard to make our times tally. When we do get a chance
to get in the studio again, we will finish off these songs. We’ve got a good
body of songs going”.
The
possibility of a full-fledged reunion gained momentum earlier in 2025 when Wood
joined Stewart on stage at Glastonbury. Their chemistry was palpable, and Wood
noted that “absolutely nothing had changed” between them, despite the passage
of decades. He humorously added that the only difference now is Stewart’s preference
for a quieter stage setup, no amps allowed.
The
Faces, known for their raucous energy and rebellious antics, were once so
notorious that they had to check into hotels under fake names like Fleetwood
Mac to avoid being banned. Wood reminisced about these wild days, sharing
stories of being blacklisted from entire hotel chains and the chaos that
followed them on tour.
While the
logistics of coordinating studio time remain a challenge due to their busy
schedules, both Wood and Stewart appear committed to breathing new life into
their shared musical legacy.
Fans of
classic rock and The Faces have reason to be hopeful, as this collaboration
could lead to new releases and possibly live performances that celebrate their
enduring bond and timeless sound.
