Full Report: APC Stakeholders Meeting in Kebbi
The All
Progressives Congress (APC) convened a high-level stakeholders meeting in
Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi State, in mid-October 2025.
This strategic gathering brought together no fewer than twenty governors elected under the APC platform, under the auspices of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF).
The meeting was chaired by Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the PGF, and was hosted by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris.
The event
commenced with a dinner reception and a tour of infrastructure projects
executed by Governor Idris, setting the tone for a closed-door deliberation
held at the council chamber of the Kebbi Government House.
The
discussions extended late into the night, underscoring the gravity and breadth
of the agenda. Although the APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, was
present in Kebbi State, he did not participate in the meeting itself.
Central
to the meeting’s agenda were pressing national issues and internal party
matters, particularly in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The
governors reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the APC as Nigeria’s
leading political platform. Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State, speaking
on the sidelines, described the APC as the “most formidable” political party in
the country, citing its ability to manage defections and balance expectations.
He attributed the party’s growing appeal to the economic revival efforts
spearheaded by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Governor
Uzodimma echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that Nigeria was on a path to
renewed prosperity under President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda.” He praised
the President’s bold reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies, which
he said were aimed at reconstructing, rehabilitating, and rebuilding the
nation’s economy. According to Uzodimma, the positive impact of these reforms
was already becoming evident across the country, with Nigeria gradually
regaining its economic footing.
The
meeting concluded with a collective resolve among the governors to consolidate
the party’s gains, enhance internal cohesion, and prepare strategically for the
upcoming electoral cycle.
While the
full details of the resolutions reached were not disclosed to the public, the
tone and tenor of the meeting signaled a unified front and a proactive approach
to governance and party politics.
