Lais and Jackson first crossed paths over six years ago while serving as missionaries. At the time, Lais was living in a Carmelite convent, devoted to prayer and service, while Jackson was undergoing priestly formation in the seminary.

Their initial interactions were minimal, but fate had other plans. After Lais left the convent to focus on her mental health, Jackson reached out with a message of spiritual support, offering prayers during her recovery from depression. This simple act of kindness became the seed of a profound connection.

As their friendship deepened, both individuals found themselves reevaluating their religious vocations. Jackson, too, eventually left the seminary after a period of personal reflection. Lais has been clear in stating that his decision was entirely his own and not influenced by her. 

Their relationship officially began in April 2024, followed by an engagement in October of the same year. They were married in a private ceremony in March 2025 and chose to share their joy publicly months later.

Lais took to Instagram to express her happiness and clarify misconceptions that had arisen after their story went viral. She emphasized that she had left the convent three years before meeting Jackson again and that their love blossomed only after both had stepped away from their religious commitments. “Yes, it went viral, and with that came some misinterpretations,” she wrote. “So amidst all the news, it’s good to clear things up and share some details.”

Their love story, rooted in shared faith and mutual respect, has been described by Lais as a decision made by two adults who “know what we want in life.”
