Launch of Delta State Security Trust Fund and Fundraising: A New Dawn for Regional Safety

On October 15, 2025, the Delta State Government officially inaugurated the Delta State Security Trust Fund in a landmark event held at the Government House in Asaba.

This initiative marks a bold and strategic move aimed at fortifying the state's security architecture, enhancing the operational capacity of law enforcement agencies, and fostering peace across communities.

The launch was attended by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, top government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and prominent stakeholders from various sectors.

The Delta State Security Trust Fund is designed to serve as a financial backbone for security interventions, enabling the acquisition of modern equipment, logistics support, and training programs for security personnel. It also seeks to promote community-based security initiatives and intelligence gathering, ensuring that local challenges are addressed with tailored solutions. The operational framework unveiled during the event emphasized transparency, accountability, and sustainability, with mechanisms put in place to monitor fund utilization and impact.

A major highlight of the launch was the unprecedented donation of ₦10 billion by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, the Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited. His contribution was hailed as a historic gesture of patriotism and commitment to regional peace. Tompolo’s donation not only set the tone for the fundraising drive but also galvanized other stakeholders to pledge their support.

The fundraising segment of the event saw pledges from corporate bodies, community leaders, and philanthropists, all united by a shared vision of a safer Delta State.

Governor Oborevwori, in his address, lauded the collective spirit of the contributors and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to creating a secure environment conducive to economic growth and social harmony. He emphasized that the Trust Fund would be managed by a board of credible individuals drawn from civil society, the private sector, and government, ensuring that every naira is accounted for and directed toward impactful security projects.

The launch of the Delta State Security Trust Fund and its accompanying fundraising drive signals a new era of proactive governance and community collaboration in tackling insecurity. It reflects a growing recognition that security is a shared responsibility and that sustainable peace requires both strategic investment and grassroots engagement.
